There are many shades of dark nail polish these days. It you like to wear dark nail polish not to long ago your choice was Black and that was it. Now days, there are so many amazing shades of dark nail polish that it makes it so very hard to choose. We have dark nail polish coming in reds, purples, brown and yes there still black, but the black is now a rich shiny black not just matte. With so many choices of nail polish colors, how does one pick the best color of nail polish that will work with your skin tone? Not such a easy answer with the many shades of nail polish out there, understanding that some colors will work better than others and with your nails.
The easiest way to figure out what dark nail polish will work for you is to look at your skin tone and the length of your nails. With so many of us with short nails, the thought is I can't wear dark nail polish that's for those who have long nails only! That isn't a true fact any longer with the many array of choices in dark nail polish to pick from.
If you are fair skin, you might like to pick out colors with deep hues, like a rich tone (not matte) black, chocolate red with a glossy finish, and don't forget your purples. You are looking for a purple with glitter works great for those with fair skin. One popular purple is the new Dragon's Breath by BB Couture with many shades of glitter anyone can wear it even those with fair skin. If you have short nails, which most of us do, with the rich dark colors of nail polish, for those with fair skin, keep your nails short and squared.
If you have medium skin tone, you are going to want to look for dark nail polish is shades of burgundy or even berry hues in general. Look for reddish browns, and colors with more bronze undertones. Also look for shades purple with red under tones will work well. Most of these shades may not be as dark as those worn by those with fair skin, so you can wear your nails a bit longer. Don't forget your shades of silver as well will with work with your medium skin tone.
If you have dark skin tone, start looking into colors that offer more of a shimmer. Such as colors that shimmer with blue-based undertones, like shades of plum. A good example of the prefect shade would be Love Potion #9 by BB Couture.. Look for shimmering violets or merlot. Your nails in general should have a more rounded edge and longer nails looks great on your hands.
There will always be a dark polish out there that works great with your skin tone, sometimes just by looking at it and putting it up against your hands will tell you if that color of nail polish is going to complement your nails or take away from their natural beauty.
Most of all have fun painting your nails and always have more than one color of nail polish to rock your world!
